iPhone: Serious security holes in the Mail app. Messages under attack but Apple is already at work
A serious flaw appeared in the iOS Mail app on the iPhone and iPad. Vulnerabilities that would lead to the loss of important and sensitive data for users. Apple is already aware of this and is working to bring an update fix as soon as possible.
Cybersecurity firm ZecOps has identified two major vulnerabilities in the iOS Mail application. In this case, both system flaws would exploit the so-called ” zero-day ” vulnerabilities, that is, the possibility of hackers exploiting the ” holes ” of applications not yet known to the proprietary companies, in this case, Apple. Here we speak precisely of Mail or the application that allows on iPhone and iPad to check incoming emails.
Mail: The vulnerability present since the time of iOS 6
According to the most informed, one of the two vulnerabilities would allow hackers to carry out an important attack by sending e-mail messages in which the system is forced to use a disproportionate amount of smartphone memory. The second vulnerability instead comes after the first and allows the hacker to be able to withdraw, modify, or even delete the user’s email from the smartphone.
The vulnerability would have been present on Mail even from the version of iOS 6 and up to 13.4.1 or the current one. In this case, the Cupertino company would have already posted a solution to the problem. Still, the fix would be in the iOS version 13.4.5, which is currently released in Beta for developers but, which should still be released publicly in the short term, ending these two important issues.
The suggestion that comes, for the moment, is to use alternative clients for your emails. We are talking about Gmail or Outlook or spark, which still allows us to fulfill the same task but not to have this type of security problem.
