Lian-Li Alpha 550 RGB Case with E-ATX format: Nice mix of interior

The structure has a mid-tower format, able to support motherboard with E-ATX form factor, and of course all those of smaller size, within the Alpha 550, there is really plenty of space available even for the most complex systems.

Lian-Li, one of the few manufacturers of PC components that, until now, had not fallen into the RGB fashion, lets itself be dragged and proposes a case with all the qualities of the Lian-Li product, but also equipped with controllers and RGB fans pre -installed: let’s talk about the Alpha 550 RGB model.

Without giving too much importance to standard lighting, we look more closely at the most important aspects of this product: as we are often used to seeing on Lian-Li products, there are very few plastic components, the main structure consists of micro-perforated metal grids, aluminum structure combined with steel and tempered glass surfaces, all combined together to offer a truly clean and tidy design.

Lian-Li Alpha 550As for the arrangement to accommodate the various system components, there are 10 expansion card slots, of which 8 horizontal and 2 vertical, dedicated for example, for an original placement of a dual-slot video card, PCIe extension kit from buy separately; users will be able to install video cards up to 400 mm in length, 250 mm maximum power supplies and heatsinks for processors up to 170 mm high, so in this case, there is room for any type of component.

As for the storage compartment, the Alpha 550, depending on the installation location, is able to accommodate up to four 3.5″ units and five by 2.5″ units.

Lian-Li Alpha 550For ventilation instead, on the front panel we find pre-installed three Bora 120 RGB fans combined with the relative controller for their management, alternatively to these you can also adopt fans of 140 mm in the same number; identical configuration also for the upper panel, while for the rear one, there is only one space for a 120 mm fan: little difference as regards the use of radiators, there is enough space to install one of 360 mm front and one for 420 mm high at the top.

Between the right side wall and the front, we find two USB 3.0 ports, a reversible USB Type-C 3.1, the usual audio connectors and the start button; Lian-Li has announced that the Lian-Li Alpha 550 will be available, at a final price of $239, certainly not small change, but justified if we keep in mind construction quality, dimensions and components included.
