McAfee updates the antivirus range: More protection
McAfee updates its range of antivirus solutions, focusing on ensuring high system performance even when the antivirus is active in monitoring traffic and applications.
McAfee has announced the new family of antivirus solutions for the consumer, introducing interesting news in products that are actually used on all types of devices connected to the web. Not only desktop PCs and notebooks but also mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets, require a protection system that can protect against the many potential threats that can be encountered on the web.
Attention to security solutions is always very high: PC malware has increased by 37% over the last year, while mobile malware have increased to +42%. Ransomware has increased by 62% while currency pullers have seen a 629% boost in the last 12 months: it is not possible to lower the guard.
The new range consists of 5 different solutions, differentiated between them for technical characteristics and of course for cost. MaAfee Antivirus is the entry proposal, compatible only with PC platforms and subscription offer for 1 year at $39.99. McAfee Antivirus Plus also extends protection to Mac devices and smartphones, for an annual subscription price of $59.99 and allowing you to protect up to 10 different devices.
McAfee Internet Security extends the technical features of McAfee Antivirus Premium by integrating the McAfee password management tool for 1 user, at a price of $79.99 per annual subscription.
McAfee Total Protection, proposed for an annual fee of $89.99, extends the use of the McAfee password manager to up to 5 users, while in the version with 10 protected devices it also enables the McAfee Safe Family tool. Lastly, we find McAfee LiveSafe, which always offers an annual subscription for $89.99 and offers McAfee Safe Family always available.
The main innovation implemented in the new McAfee line concerns the PC Boost function: the use of an antivirus is no longer such as to negatively impact
on the performance and reactivity of your PC but thanks to PC Boost you get a smoother operation.
There are two methods of intervention of this utility: on the one hand, it improves the performance of applications that require more system resources, optimizing what is available according to the specific needs of use. On the other hand, with web boost, the videos loaded on the web pages are sent only when necessary so as to save on system resources as well as on bandwidth.
McAfee tools also protect mobile solutions such as smartphones and tablets, with both iOS and Android operating systems. The approach to mobile security has been completely revised, integrating into McAfee Safe Family a tool that allows you to monitor the access of devices in your family through the filtering of web pages, the report of usage activities and the setting of time limits for use.
McAfee continues to offer a range of very diverse security and security solutions, evolving its platform every year. Of these last editions, the desire to make the use of an anti-virus tool increasingly transparent with respect to the available system resources, extending the scope to all the types of connected devices that a typical user uses every day should be emphasized.
