Microsoft announces several news on the Microsoft 365 platform
At Microsoft Build 2018, the company announced several innovations regarding the Microsoft 365 platform. The most interesting are in the name of artificial intelligence.
During Microsoft Build 2018, the company’s annual conference dedicated to the world of development, the company invited developers to adopt Microsoft 365 showing the new tools offered on the platform. Microsoft 365 consists of Office 365, Windows 10 and Enterprise Mobility + Security, and is set up as the largest IT productivity solution. Of course, among the new options there is no lack of an eye on artificial intelligence.
Among the many innovations announced for the developers, we find Windows Machine Learning, a new platform that makes it easier to create experiences in machine learning in the cloud, so that they can be exploited at high performance even offline through a computer. Microsoft has announced new APIs on Microsoft Teams in Microsoft Graph and greater integration of SharePoint in Microsoft Teams with which to link a SharePoint page within the channels.
Excel now supports Power BI visualizations, while .NET Core 3.0 and MSIX have also been launched, a ” containerization ” solution that allows to convert large catalogs of applications in a simplified way, integrating all the functions of the Universal Windows Platgorm (UWP) . Microsoft has also announced app development updates with the Fluent Design System (developers have more versatile XAML controls available).
Returning to the AI, among the new features of Microsoft 365, we also mention the new customized functions on Azure Machine Learning and JavaScript. The news unveiled for the platform is completed with those announced recently, such as Microsoft Launcher for Android, which will soon support Timeline, functionality already appeared on Windows 10. Adaptive Cards are now supported on Microsoft 365 and allow you to create interactive content in messages sent via Teams or Outlook.
Microsoft is not new to the world of artificial intelligence, with technology that is already used on Office 365, within the Windows 10 Photo app, and on facial recognition techniques used on Windows Hello. Microsoft also uses machine learning in the areas of professional and advertising cyber security, and soon developers will benefit from some of Redmond’s technologies in a simple way through the new tools.
Specifically, with Windows Machine Learning, developers will be able to use already trained models of artificial intelligence, in order to exploit a ready-to-use platform for data analysis (and more) at lower costs and with significantly shorter times. The platform can be used on a whole range of different devices, starting from household gadgets, up to computers, servers and datacenters through virtual / augmented reality viewers.
As part of Microsoft’s commitment to AI, the company has also announced a new five-year $ 25 million investment program: AI for Accessibility aims to ” enhance the possibilities offered by AI to expand capabilities human resources of disabled people “, offering them the opportunity to improve the ability to interact with the environment. Together with the Microsoft program, it has also announced several other products for ” multi-sensorial experiences “.
These include Project Kinect for Azure, Remote Assist, to offer the ability to interact remotely via hands-free video conferencing and overlay, and Microsoft Layout, to design spaces in mixed reality environments, both physical and virtual, dynamically editable.
