Microsoft Edge now available to all users on Android and iOS
The preview version of Microsoft’s modern browser is already available on Android and iOS terminals, easily downloaded via Google Play Store.
Microsoft recently announced the release of Edge preview versions on ” competing ” platforms, iOS and Android. Having abandoned Windows Phone to its fate, the Redmond company is increasingly embracing the service provider approach and, by offering its browser to the competition, can allow users to synchronize their web browsing experience across multiple devices. The ad was released only on iOS, while now it is also available for Android users who want to test the quality in advance.
To download Microsoft Edge on your Android device simply go to this address and click on Install, both from the desktop and from the mobile terminal. On the page, it is specified that it is an ” Unreleased ” version, not yet released to the public and that could present anomalies and bugs not yet resolved. Those who do not find it can force the procedure on the official Microsoft website and request the e-mail download address.
After our first use, we can say that it is still a bit behind compared to Chrome, but it is normal. Microsoft has not formalized any release date and may still be months before the ” not released ” sign disappears from the Google Play Store. In terms of perceived performance and fluidity of the scrolling are comparable, even if Edge still shows uncertainties on some websites, probably due to the incorrect management of some elements of the page.
In terms of features, Chrome appears much more complete on Android. At the time of writing, the first beta version of Edge for Android lets you synchronize bookmarks, reading lists, settings for new tabs between PCs and Android devices. It is also possible to send a page displayed on mobile on the Edge browser for PC through the Continue on PC function that will be implemented on the Fall Creators Update, and is already available for Insider users.
