MSI Optix MAG272CRX: New 27-inch is a Full HD at 240 Hz
MSI Optix MAG272CRX is a new monitor for competitive players that combines the ideal size at the moment with features that not seem so often in this format: Full HD resolution and refresh up to 240 Hz.
MSI has expanded its gaming monitor line with the Optix MAG272CRX, a monitor that in the abbreviation recalls the MAG272CQR that we have just tested but from which it differs in some aspects. Let’s start with the common elements. Again, we are dealing with a 27-inch based on a VA panel (8 bit FRC) with a 1500R curvature and 178 degree viewing angles, both vertically and horizontally.
The panel ensures, at least on paper, a maximum brightness of 300 cd/m2, a contrast ratio of 3000:1, and a response time of 1 millisecond. The company indicates coverage of the DCI-P3 color space of 89% and 113% of the sRGB color space.
The new MSI Optix MAG272CRX differs for the Full HD resolution (lower than the MAG272CQR) and for the maximum refresh rate, which goes up to 240 Hz, making it an adequate solution for those who play FPS on high-performance configurations.
Like any good modern gaming monitor, there is no lack of support for a variable refresh rate via VESA Adaptive-Sync, which makes it a FreeSync certified monitor (it is also likely that there are no problems regarding support for G-Sync, despite the absence of Nvidia certification). The monitor is also labeled as HDR Ready, and there is no lack of Mystic Light lighting on the back.
As for connectivity, the new Optix was a DisplayPort 1.2a, two HDMI 2.0b, and a USB Type C input with support for the passage of video data and energy. There is also a dual USB 3.2 Gen 1 port hub, along with a headphone output. MSI Optix MAG272CRX can be adjusted by the players in height (13 cm) and inclination (from -5° to 20°), but cannot be rotated.
