The new Canon EOS 7D Mark II : New Autofocus, 10fps and much more
” Here comes the long-awaited Canon EOS 7D Mark II and it does it in style: confirmed the dual DIGIC 6, autofocus with 65 cross-type points, 10fps, ISO up to 16000 (51200 extendable), several new elements in the video and much more yet “.
Finally, there was the long-awaited Canon EOS 7D Mark II, and we believe that many will appreciate its features. Designed as the top of the range in the industry APS-C with great talent for sports photography and also naturalistic, the new Canon SLR has a new APS-C CMOS 20.2 megapixel with a native ISO range of 100-16,000, expandable up to 51,200 (there were at most 6400 extendable to 12800 in the 7D and the years were beginning to weigh in this sense).
Canon has redesigned most of its EOS 7D Mark II when compared to the model it replaces, while maintaining the focus on the target of this particular group. Of note is the new AF system with 65 cross points and dual DIGIC 6; More importantly is that we find the popular technology of second generation Dual Pixel CMOS AF, already seen in the Canon 70D in its first incarnation.
In essence, there are two photo diodes in each pixel, in order to have been available for a focus phase detection on the whole surface of the sensor. Also noteworthy is the measurement of the light sensor, high-resolution 150,000 pixel RGB and IR detector new flickering. New is also the shutter and the mirror movement mechanism, designed to have an estimated average life of 200,000 cycles. We quote from the press release some of the innovations in this sense :
- The new system is equipped with two engines : one is dedicated to the unit and one on the mirror shutter mechanism also uses bearings with a high rate of transmission of energy, designed to reduce the time cocking during continuous shooting high speed.
- The primary mirror and the secondary Canon EOS 7D Mark II are driven by a dedicated motor that allows mirrors to be stable during continuous shooting, in order to ensure high accuracy AI Servo autofocus and an accurate picture. Both mirrors are supported by a damping mechanism to limit the rebound. When the mirror is lowered, a damping mass (mass damper) applies a force opposite to the direction of rebound of the secondary mirror to reduce the side effects and ensure a consistently accurate focus.
Finally reaches the interval timer built: for the first time in an EOS, a timer allows you to record images at programmable intervals from one second to 99 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds, and between an unlimited number of shots selected from one or 99 for very long exposures, the shutter of the camera can also be set to pose B for a specified time.
The new Canon EOS 7D Mark II is obviously able to film in Full HD, with a choice of frame rates from 24p to 60p; to point out is the HDMI output (4: 2: 2), a new dedicated microphone and headphone jacks for external devices as well as USB 3.0 high speed.
Integrated GPS and digital compass are: images and movies can be geo referenced with the exact location of recording and thanks to a new setting, also with the coordinated universal time (UTC).
Canon EOS 7D Mark II is the first EOS camera with a digital compass that has a three-axis geomagnetic sensor and an accelerometer, enabling photographers to record longitude, latitude, altitude and even shooting direction with respect to the cardinal points.
Lacks Wi-Fi and, just to point out one of the most ” look ” in the data sheets from fans and not … yes, I get to 1/8000 shutter speed. Of course, more details will follow in the review is complete, it is sent from the field. Canon EOS 7D Mark II will arrive on the shelves in November.
