New Colorful SSDs based on SiliconMotion controllers: CN600 and CP600 series
Colorful introduces three new models that aim for maximum performance, all based on PCIe standards and among the first to show off the latest SiliconMotion 2262, 2263 and 2263XTL controllers: we are talking about the CN600 DRAM-less series, CN600 DRAM and CP600 iGame.
Colorful, a leading manufacturer of PC hardware components, after the presentation of its low-cost SSDs a few months ago, has now announced the introduction of three new models that aim for maximum performance, all based on PCIe standards and among the first to show off the latest SiliconMotion 2262, 2263 and 2263XTL controllers: we are talking about the CN600 DRAM-less series, CN600 DRAM and CP600 iGame.
” Although the first SSD product lines from COLORFUL have just been released just 3 years ago, thanks to the partnership between SiliconMotion and NAND manufacturers, COLORFUL SSD products are among the top 3 in terms of market share in China. This new launch of SS600 series CN600 and CP600 today will be the beginning of another adventure among high-end products, ” said Jerry Tsao, DGM of Colorful Storage.
The CN600 DRAM-less series products are based on SMI 2263XT controller and PCIe Gen3 x4 interface, without DRAM, and able to provide 4 times higher performance than the previous SATA3 SSDs: they adopt a M.2 2280 form factor and guarantee transfer rate up to 2GB/s in reading and 1.6GB/s in writing, this series, among the three, is presented as the best for the performance-price ratio.
As for the CN600 DRAM series, it has been developed on SMI2263 controller combined with DRAM designed to increase the transfer speed up to 2.4GB/s in reading and up to 1.7GB/s in writing: a more powerful version of the previous one, with M.2 NVMe form factor, in this case it is equipped with a heat sink that traces the entire surface of the PCB in order to keep the temperature produced by the chips under control.
Finally, we have the hi-end series, the CP600 iGame Edition, equipped with SMI 2262 controller able to go with read speeds higher than 3 GB/s and 1.7 GB/s write, and guarantee IOPS in reading and writing respectively with values up to 370,000 and 300,000; with a format developed on a single slot and PCIe attack, also in this case it is necessary to adopt a large dissipating surface, and in addition a touch of design and RGB LED lighting, in line with other Colorful gaming products.
The CP600 series will be available in capacities from 480GB up to 2TB, while the other two series will have capacities between 240GB and 1TB; as for prices, they will be announced at a later date, for the time being, Colorful has only announced the intention to release these new SSDs on the market.
