Amazon has announced its new Fire TV Stick that brings many improvements, becoming more modern and ready for next-generation content.
Amazon has just announced its new model of the Fire TV Stick; This new media streamer supports 4K, Dolby Vision HDR, HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos, faster interior perspectives and a revised remote control.
Amazon claims that the device now includes a 1.7 GHz quad-core processor, which on paper is more powerful than the 1.5 GHz chip inside the standard Fire TV 4K and the Fire TV Cube. The remote control comes with dedicated buttons for power, volume, as well as an IR transmitter that gives it a minimum of control over the soundbar, cable box and AV equipment.
The company is expanding the voice control system on its devices with Alexa: initially, it was implemented on the Fire TV Cube, later the support will come for the other devices but with a separate remote control. Amazon says it will sell the new voice remote with Alexa separately for $ 29.99. It will be included with the new purchases of Fire TV Cube from now on, but it will also work with the second generation of Fire TV Stick and the third generation of Fire TV
At the software level, Fire TV Stick 4K is what is expected: priority to the contents of Amazon partners and its Prime Video streaming service, use of Alexa and alternative solutions to watch YouTube or use other Google apps.
The form factor is the usual: we are still facing a small stick that connects directly to an HDMI port, supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac and there are no external ports. Fire TV Stick 4K has 8GB of internal memory, and everything uses Bluetooth 5.
The launch of this new Stick keeps Amazon in competition with Roku, which launched a new Stick 4K HDR last month (which does not support Dolby Vision). It should also keep Amazon competitive with Google, which is ready to launch a new Chromecast in the coming weeks.
