Major updated to the Ultrabook of Lenovo, which goes by the name of ThinkPad X1 Carbon, which now adopts SSD Samsung M.2 NVMe, carbon-fiber body, resistance to spatter and poor as well as weight and thickness than the previous version.
Update of range for Lenovo, which tries to push even further the characteristics of Ultrabook with the new version of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon. The product must be contextualized in the portable PC business (but not only of course) with great portability in terms of weight and thickness, but equipped with high-level hardware that do not compromise.
Listening to the opinions of its customers, Lenovo has made several changes both structural and equipment hardware. There are now several resolutions, more memory can be equipped, storage capacity and the device is still lighter and thinner. The weight is only 1.2 kg (very low considering the use of a battery of 52 Wh, declared autonomy 11 hours), with a structure that exploits the carbon fiber, while the maximum thickness stops a 16.45 mm.
The main features, besides those already mentioned, speaking of compliance to some military specifications that make it impervious to splashes and dust (a ” semi-rugged “), SSDs use Samsung M.2 NVMe with capacity up to 1 TB ( and speed transfer rate of up to 2 GB/sec read and write), fingerprint reader and Trusted Platform Module and connectivity on the go at the top thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon X7 LTE modem, with 4G LTE Advanced Carrier Aggregation can to ensure download up to 300 Mbps.
Let’s move on to the hardware that we have not yet discussed in detail: the display is IPS type 300 nits, has a diagonal of 14 inches and resolutions that may be of 2,560×1,440 pixels or 1,920×1,080 pixels, while on the processors you can get to Intel Core i7 with vPro.
The allocation of memory can be up to 16 GB, while the allocation of ports provides WiGig, CAPITAL SAFETY INC, MiniDisplayPort, HDMI, 3 USB 3.0 and MicroSD slot.
Lenovo is pushing for adoption with their top of the range devices (but not only), the WiGig docking outside, in order to operate the device without being surrounded by wires. It can be purchased from February to starting price of $1,299.
