New Outlook on the web in roll-out for the first users: The news of the new version

Microsoft has started rolling out the new version of Outlook.com to the first selected users. It will come for everyone starting in the coming months.

In September, Microsoft began testing a new version of Outlook on the web, carried out with improvements to the user experience in general and to the research experience. During the past few months, the company has opened the test to the public, allowing users to easily enable the new experience.

The new web client has gained functionality week after a week, and in the past few hours has been finalized and is now in the roll-out phase even if only for Targeted Release users.

New Outlook on Web

The new Outlook on the web includes improvements in both the e-mail management section and the calendar. In the first part, the messages can be marked with specific categories that make it easier to discover the topic. You can then configure contacts, groups or favorite categories, which will appear in their folder along with a count related to the messages present.

” Snooze ” has also been introduced for e-mails that we cannot handle right away, and we want to check after a short time from receipt, and there is a tab display for the last open e-mails.

You can’t miss the ” dark mode “, a mode that obscures the screen and is designed to tire less eyes especially in poorly lit environments. With the new version of the web client, it is also possible to add emojis and GIFs to conversations.

Among the new features, instead, in the calendar section, we have a general improvement in the management of events and reminders. It is easier to create a new event through a special window that opens on the calendar and allows you to quickly set the time, place and participants. There are also new options for making online appointments with other members as well.

The search experience has also been revised, allowing users, places or even keywords to be found among the events on the various calendars. The weekly display, then, gives more space to the current day and to the next one, offering the user to concentrate on the nearest events.

The new experience will be distributed to the first selected users of the Targeted Release channel starting from the next few weeks, and will arrive subsequently for all users.
