On this year 2013 the manufacturers showed high-resolution televisions and intelligent appliances, new tablets, smartphones and touch PCs based on Windows and Android.
Samsung – Galaxy Note and Galaxy Gear
The start made Samsung. The manufacturer first showed the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, a smartphone with 5.7 inch screen size. This shows content in Full HD, so with 1920 x 1080 pixels. The device will be available in two versions: the LTE version gets a quad-core processor at 2.3 GHz, the non-LTE version is equipped with Samsung’s eight-core processor. The Android smartphone will run in version 4.3.
The Samsung Galaxy Note will also support Knox, a special extension to provide for an easier integration, especially in corporate environments. If you want it a little bigger for the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, the tablet presented in a new edition. This offers no phone functions, but LTE or 3G. Again, the distribution is similar to Grade 3: The LTE version gets a quad-core at 1.9GHz, who buys the version without LTE coming to enjoy a 2.3GHz. Both systems can be operated not only by touch, but also support pen input.
Samsung also introduced the Galaxy Gear, a smart clock that will work with the Galaxy smartphones. This is controlled by voice and to show the user a lot of information to the smartphone. The battery will provide power for 25 hours – so a little more hold than a day.
Sony – Windows Smart phones and Tablets
Sony has also expanded its Android range. With the Xperia Z1 a new flagship Android goes on sale – and which has technical specifications, which can be quite impressive. The Z1 comes with not just a camera with 20.7 megapixels and a 2.2 GHz quad-core processo, but it is especially protected against dust and water. The Sony
Xperia Z1 fulfills the requirements of IP55 and IP58. The 5-inch large-screen displays content with 1920 x 1080 pixels. Sony will sell the Z1 from the third quarter for a retail price about $800.
Sony also expanded its range of Windows 8 devices with touch screen. The Vaio Tap 11 is a pure Windows 8.1 tablet. It resembles the Microsoft Surface. The screen size is 11.6 inches (29.4 centimeters). It triggers content with 1920 x 1080 pixels. Stuck inside an SSD and the new chipset from Intel. Similar to Microsoft Surface can click the Vaio Tab 11 an external keyboard. The tablet will be available from October, depending upon the configuration of the recommended price is $799 or $1,199.
Also equipped with touch screen is the Vaio Fit MultiFlip, a convertible with Windows 8.1 where the screen can fold it and put on the keyboard. The notebook will be with 13 and 15 inch. Sony delivers the devices with different resolutions up to 2,880 x 1,620 pixels. Inside is an Intel chipset Hasswell, who is supported by an Nvidia Graphics Card. The devices are available in October and cost between $799 and $1,499.
Lenovo – New Flex series and a yoga for business.
Lenovo showed new devices, but focused primarily on Windows 8. The interesting thing is the Thinkpad yoga. It is based o n the relatively good yoga tablet and is aimed primarily at business use. It offers a multi-touch display with 12.5 inch and optional HD or Full HD resolution. Interestingly, the lift-and-lock system: Here, the keys of yoga per pull back into the case when it is used in tablet mode. Price and availability are yet to announce Lenovo.
Lenovo – New Flex series. These are available in three versions with 14, 15 and 20 inch screens. The devices are among the convertibles, so they can be transformed from a normal desktop mode in a tablet. Accordingly, all units are equipped with a touch-sensitive screen. The resolution is compared to the Sony devices low – Lenovo offers 1366 x 768 pixels for smaller devices. The 20-inch model offers a HD resolution. The prices for Flex 14 and Flex 15 are at &449 and $519, the Flex 20 starts at $999.
HP comes back into the tablet market.
Before HP stumbled with the WebOS tablet, the Group has had a pretty good group for mobile devices – with the HP Slate 8 Pro, the company obviously wants to build on earlier successes. Unfortunately, it still falls short of concrete information, but it is clear that the Slate 8 is coming with the Android operating system, powered by a Tegra 4 chipset from Nvidia.
The official launch will take place in October, at the latest should new information (such as whether a HP Slate with Windows 8 RT has in the works).
