Presentation of the new family of SSD OCZ Vertex 460A, Toshiba A19-based chips and NAND designed to meet the needs of the mainstream – the consumer.
Following the acquisition by Toshiba’s renowned OCZ brand, famous for solid-state drive market, we are seeing a renewal of the range to bring in SSD chips manufactured by Toshiba itself.
The Japanese company offers several brands of its NAND flash chips, especially those of the latest generation of 19nm, which is why it appears quite reasonable to expect a mass migration of the lines OCZ towards a solution of this type.
This is precisely what concerns the new OCZ Vertex 460A, which is marketed under the Toshiba A19 NAND flash chip and with that we ended up with the deviations from the standard OCZ Vertex 460 without the A in the acronym. If you do not have to then wait for a revolution in terms of performance behavior, I certainly welcome the new security ShieldPlus already seen the newer OCZ drives, allowing you to replace the defective unit without a receipt, just the serial number with shipment a new unit in advance of return.
The new OCZ Vertex 460A SSD are sold in denominations of 120 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB; the reading speed is very high for all the cuts, in the order of 530-545 MB/s, while as regards the writing is the only unit 120GB not reach high values (420 MB/s). This is a great value considering that until recently SSDs of that cut have averaged a value that is half of that reported by OCZ Vertex for 460A, because the controller is not maximized (PCB there are fewer chips).
Performance | 120GB | 240GB | 480GB |
Sequential Read Speed | 530 MB/s | 540 MB/s | 545 MB/s |
Sequential Write Speed | 420 MB/s | 525 MB/s | 525 MB/s |
Max Random Read IOPS (4KB QD32) | 80,000 | 85,000 | 95,000 |
Max Random Write IOPS (4KB QD32) | 90,000 | 90,000 | 90,000 |
Steady-State Random Write IOPS (4K QD32) | 12,000 | 21,000 | 23,000 |
We have appointed the controller; confirms the presence of the model Indilinx Barefoot 3 (also owned by OCZ and then Toshiba), which is why we can expect long-lasting performance. The warranty is 3 years, with 20GB of writes per day. Expected bundled with the software and Acronis TrueImage 3.5-inch adapter.
