Philips 252B9: An environmentally friendly office monitor

MMD presents the Philips 252B9, 25″ monitor designed for offices. It is large, ergonomic and economical but what makes it special is its advanced ” smart ” energy-saving features.

Monitors designed for the business world are designed differently from those for gamers or professionals in graphics and video.

Technologies such as G-Sync or FreeSync are not taken into consideration in this sector, just as one should not expect high color fidelity or particularly vibrant colors: in the end, they are displays that will be used mainly to write texts and work on spreadsheets, there is no need for a particularly high brightness. Ergonomics, on the other hand, is fundamental, as is low consumption.

Philips 252B9: A sustainable display

The Philips 25B9 is a monitor in 16:10 format with a resolution of 1,920×1,200. It is based on an IPS panel and can boast a fair variety of inputs: in addition to the inevitable HDMI (in version 1.4) and DisplayPort 1.2 also includes inputs in DVI-D and VGA format.

Being a product designed for the corporate world, particular attention has been given to ergonomics and consequently the base supports numerous adjustments in height and inclination, as well as allowing pivoting, that is 90° rotation so that it can also be used in vertical.

It supports both Flicker-Free technology, which regulates the brightness of the panels to reduce flickering, and LowBlu Mode, which filters the blue light typical of LED displays.

The energy-saving functions, the PowerSensor technology, make it different from similar products. This is a sensor that constantly checks the presence of the user and when it moves away it lowers the brightness, helping to significantly reduce energy consumption, up to 80% according to the manufacturer. When not used for long periods, such as at night or on weekends, it is able to consume exactly zero.

To activate this mode you have to rely on an old-fashioned but still effective ” technology ” : the good old power button, located on the back, which once activated disconnects it completely from the power supply, not wasting a single watt.

Attention to the environment is not limited to these measures: the monitor has 85% post-consumer recycled plastic and 100% recyclable packaging material.
