Philips also uses AI in razors
Philips changes slogans and Personal Healthcare becomes Personalized Healthcare. Among the innovations presented at the IFA GPC 2019 stand out the toothbrushes with RFID chips, razors equipped with artificial intelligence and a smart solution to stop snoring.
Philips wants to revolutionize the way we take care of ourselves and wants to do it through technology. The Dutch company took the opportunity of the stage of the IFA Global Press Conference 2019 to present a series of news dedicated to personal care starting with Philips SmartSleep Snoring Relief Band, a device aimed at alleviating one of the most common problems among the population : snoring.
Philips SmartSleep Snoring Relief Band
According to Philips, The Global Pursuit of Better Sleep Health report, 44% of respondents admit that the quality of sleep has deteriorated over the past 5 years, so much so that as many as 8 out of 10 adults would like to improve it. In particular, it is the snoring, proper or of the partner, one of the problems most felt by the population, which afflicts about 40% of men and 24% of women.
To solve it Philips presented Smartsleep Snoring Relief Band, a band to wear around the chest that controls movement during sleep. When the wearer is placed on his back, the band begins to vibrate gently so as to push to change position, so as to prevent the annoying phenomenon.
This is not the first solution on the market to exploit this type of approach, but Philips stands out from the competition for having integrated machine learning algorithms in the software that learn to recognize sleep patterns, adapting to each individual.
Philips Sonicare Teledentistry, the remote dentist
Electric toothbrushes have made incredible progress in recent years. This is thanks to the integrated software, which signals when too high pressure is applied, keeps time for the brushed and – in the most advanced models with Bluetooth connection – is able to offer telemetry data, so as to ensure that all the teeth have received the right caution.
The RFID chip integrated in the head instead warns when it is time to replace it. The next step? Being able to consult an expert without leaving home. The Sonicare Teledentistry Solution service consists precisely in this: having a professional medical assistance remotely. Owners of Philips Sonicare toothbrushes will be able to send toothbrushes and toothbrush data to professionals to get personalized advice.
Sonicare Teledentistry Solution is currently available only in the United States but will be introduced in Europe towards the end of 2019, starting from Germany.
Philips Shaver series 7000, the first intelligent razor
The AI is everywhere, even in electric razors, at least in those of the Philips Shaver series 7000 range, powered by Adaptive Intelligence algorithms developed by the Dutch company.
Developed in collaboration with expert dermatologists, these razors are equipped with sensors that can recognize the way the user shaves and, based on this information, the app offers personalized advice to achieve a perfect shave while avoiding irritation of the skin.
