Photoshop arrives on iPad: here is the new app for photo editing

After more than a year of development, the most popular Adobe software arrives on iPad, ready to offer a desktop-like experience.

During the Apple conference that took place about a year ago for the presentation of the 11 and 12.9-inch iPad Pro, there was a curtain also for Adobe, on that occasion the software house presented a first Photoshop prototype running on the company’s devices Cupertino just presented to the public.

Adobe promise was to release the ” new ” photo retouching application by the end of 2019, a year later we are here to announce the official release of Photoshop on iPads. The application developed ad oc by the US software house is available on the App Store for free but with purchases in the app, Photoshop on iPad will cost $10.99 per month (30 day free trial), or included for those who already have a subscription Adobe.

Photoshop for iPad: What changes from the Desktop version?

Adobe gets its hands on: what was released yesterday is an initial version of Photoshop for iPad and not yet on par with its desktop photo editing software. Most of the functions that we find on the computer version are present, but the Apple Pencil will guarantee more help; Adobe claims to have focused on features that will benefit from Apple Pencil’s touch and input such as ” basic composition and retouching tools “, smart selection, and more.

Obviously, the application will be able to read the .psd files and also allow its modification and with the storage of the files on Creative Cloud the changes from where you were left on any device will be available. A workflow that can probably be used by professionals, to maximize portability and also allow adjustments on the fly.

What to expect?

Adobe has managed to stick to the development plan, regardless of the state of application of Photoshop at the moment. There is still a lot of work to thin the two versions, iPad and desktop, of Photoshop, but this marks a time when even large companies focus on products that are as close to hand as possible.

Adobe will hold its Adobe MAX 2019 conference this week, and we will probably receive news on the new application, perhaps on the timing to receive a version as similar as possible to the desktop one.
