Pixelbook comes from Google, the 2-in-1 with Chrome operating system
Pixelbook expands up the range of solutions of the Chromebook family, with a high-end hardware equipment and the combination with Pixelbook Pen.
Pixelbook is the name chosen by Google to indicate its notebook solution announced today; more than a notebook, we have a 2-in-1 device, capable of assuming different modes of use. Google indicates the term 4-in-1 to identify Pixelbook and this immediately highlights the analogy with Lenovo’s Yoga proposals. The operating system is obviously the Chrome one of the American company: Pixelbook is for this reason the richest and most complete Chromebook on the market.
1Kg in weight and 10mm in thickness: these are the external features of Pixelbook, equipped with a screen that is hinged at the base and able to rotate 360 degrees compared to the latter. The display has a diagonal of 12.3 inches, with Quad HD resolution and LCD technology for a density of 235ppi; the panel is obviously of the touch type.
Under the body, we find Intel Core i5 or Core i7, depending on the versions: the integrated storage via SSD reaches a maximum capacity of 512 Gbytes while the system memory can reach as much as a maximum of 16 Gbytes. The autonomy of battery operation is declared to be equal to a maximum of 10 hours; very interesting the possibility of obtaining a duration of 2 hours with a recharge of only 15-minute duration. From the images, we deduce that Pixelbook is equipped with two USB Type-C ports, one for each of the sides.
Together with Google Pixelbook announced Pixelbook Pen, a new-generation stylus through which you can interact with Pixelbook. The technical characteristics of this product have a reduced latency in just 10 milliseconds, a 60-degree angle within which it responds to commands and a sensitivity of up to 2,000 levels of pressure. There is also the integration of Google Assistant: simply say, ” OK Google ” to activate the personal assistant or press the dedicated button on Pixelbook.
The integration between hardware and software is one of the elements behind Pixelbook: Google, for example, has implemented an instant tethering mode in combination with the Pixel family’s smartphone, which is activated automatically when a WiFi connection is lost.
Pixelbook will be initially proposed in the North American market at a price starting from $ 999 in the input configuration; Pixelbook Pen is offered at a price of $ 99.
