Plustek launches SmartOffice PN30, document scanner also compatible with the Mac world
Designed for SME, SmartOffice PN30 is able to acquire 30 pages per minute on the front side and to scan printouts of a maximum length of 500 cm. In addition to TWAIN support, compatibility with the Mac world is guaranteed.
Plustek SmartOffice PN30U is a compact network scanner for small and medium-sized businesses. It is a motorized model able to acquire 30 front-back pages (in the same pass, then) per minute at a resolution of 300 DPI. The maximum resolution reaches 600 DPI which in most cases are not necessary, given that the PN30U is not designed for graphic work but for document digitization.

The small PN30 offers many of the advanced features that characterize Plustek’s high-end scanners, such as the ultrasonic system that allows paper feed to be handled without jamming, even if sheets of different thickness are used, which usually put them in crisis. traditional models.
Being an office model, designed to be shared among multiple users, its operation is extremely simple. Once the SCAN button is pressed, the peripheral will check the alignment of the sheets, recognizing the format (it is also possible to insert business cards in addition to the usual A4) and applying color correction, where necessary.
Very interesting are the automatic functions, which automatically remove the colored edges from the forms and any blank pages, as well as rotate the inserted pages in reverse.
The documents acquired can be saved locally, on a network folder, FTP server or directly on the cloud services: Dropbox and Google Drive are currently supported. You can decide whether to capture in image format (JPEG and TIFF) or as a PDF, also searchable, thanks to the included OCR utility.
The software bundle
The software features inevitably include drivers, also available for Mac and compatible with TWAIN and DocAction software for PC and MacAction for Mac.
Unlike other Plustek models, software is not included to convert acquisitions into editable documents such as DOC, XLS and PPT. A choice probably made to contain costs: Plustek SmartOffice PN30U will be available in the very near future for a sum of $399. You cannot define a low figure in absolute terms, but it is definitely competitive compared to other models in this range.
