Released the Linux kernel 4.12
Finally, the Linux kernel 4.12 has been released, bringing with it a considerable amount of news between updates and new introductions within the code. Among the additions, there is supported for GTX 1000 and Radeon Vega cards.
With more than a million new lines of code, the Linux kernel comes to version 4.12. One of the most well-known open source initiatives continues in its development and introduces many new things both under the bonnet and in more apparent ways to users using systems.
There are many additions to this new kernel release: the BFQ scheduler was finally included in the mainstream kernel, developed by the Italian Paolo Valente, along with the Kyber scheduler; there is initial support for NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1000 and SoC Tegra TX2 cards; the development of AMD Radeon RX Vega card support has begun, albeit at the moment it is still embryonic; a USB Type-C Port Manager; KASLR (Kernel Address Space Layout Randomization) active by default.
Linux 4.12 brings with it many improvements to what is already present, for example, with better support for Intel-equipped notebooks, with many driver’s fixes for audio devices (with new hardware supported), and with file system enhancements such as XFS, Btrfs and F2FS.
Although the official announcement has not yet been released as this news is written, it is already possible to get the latest kernel release from the git repository of the project.
