In Samsung are clear and explain : Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 also arises as a proposal for the b2b market, to offer a viable alternative to super lightweight notebook, information workers to those who prefer a tablet from the diagonal very wide, 12.2 inches, power calculating how much needed, but not provided by a CPU hungry for resources that warm little or nothing, and with a good battery life.
It clear that in terms of direct comparison Samsung Galaxy NotePro 12.2 wants to be preferable to the proposal with Intel and Windows 8.1 Pro, for example, the Surface. And the words pro on this tablet is due, precisely considering the hardware specifications of the tablet are typical of very high-end equipment and software.
Galaxy NotePro 12.2 is business from the design and from the body. We do not like the black leatherette finish on the back, complete with a fake stitching on the edge, but the impressions on first contact are certainly not those of a solution careless. We exclude any effect disconnect, and we note with pleasure that the grip is good, and these are prints of any kind. Overall, therefore, the tablet is elegant and original.
On the profile of metal are embedded interfaces and connectors for peripheral devices. Of note also is the original dual-port USB 2.0 and 3.0 (for use with an adapter HDMI) and especially the ability to connect to the Internet – using the USB 2.0 interface of the device – even with a normal Ethernet cable, as well as to have 2 more USB ports standard, thanks to the micro-dock (also included in the package).
The keyboard, which doubles as a carry case, does not provide physical connectivity with the tablet, communicates via Bluetooth and can be recharged separately. In the model, we tested is not even produced by Samsung, but they assure us that Samsung will soon include an accessory with its brand equivalent. As far as the display resolution and quality are excellent, but we would have preferred for a high-end product, such as this, a display with the same stunning resolution (WQXGA TFT LCD 2560 × 1600) with a matte finish, unfortunately these displays cost more, and even in this case it is given up.
Galaxy NotePro 12.2 – Four applications on one screen.
With regard to the proposed software, some important news: Samsung has customized KitKat deeply, and proposes the Quad View mode to bring up to four windows of applications arranged as desired on a single view (we have already seen this solution implemented on smaller displays for two applications). The large display allows. Not only, with the supplied stylus pen (Wacom technology), it is also easy to drag content from one, to another. Not all applications can be arranged in this way. You can take a view on the main display from a side bar, specially designed by Samsung to keep at your fingertips and nib the most important applications. In the video, we give a very concrete idea.
Software side Galaxy NotePro 12.2 comes equipped with the most important applications for work: is pre-installed Cisco WebEx for video conferencing via Web, Hancome Office only reader – but the download of the full version is free – and it’s also pre-installed to allow access RemotePC computer company on the move. Easily customizable, and expected, is the solution for the digital signature, given the presence of the nib and the high sensitivity of the display. On the tablet is also available via an encrypted partition accessible Knox, for sensitive data.
Instead, Samsung Galaxy NotePro 12.2 does not support NFC. It would have been interesting in some vertical business areas, taking as a valid objection to the effect that the payment is much easier to take advantage of the support of a smartphone. Not great picture / video from just 2 megapixels front facing camera, while the rear is 8 Mega. You are not wanted in this case to get top quality solutions on smartphones like the same vendor, because as there is more than enough to do well on the job.
