Samsung Gear S – Smartwatch autonomous with curved screen and 3G module

Samsung announced Wednesday its first smartwatch with 3G module, which allows access to features typical of the category without the need for pairing with an external device. Samsung has announced a new family of wearable systems smartwatch Gear.

Gear S will likely be the first smartwatch in the market to natively support the 3G network connectivity, which allows you to access all the functionality of a product category without making any pairing with external devices.

During the same day, LG has presented G Watch R, smartwatch also interesting though for other reasons.

Samsung Gear S uses an OLED display curved from 2″ to a resolution of 360×480 pixels. Samsung believes that the use of a convex display allows the realization of a more ergonomic design for one smartwatch more comfortable to wear the wrist.

From the point of view of design, Samsung Gear S stands as a middle ground between a traditional and a bracelet smartwatch for fitness, with dimensions of course higher than the latter.

Under the shell there is a dual-core 1GHz undefined, supported by 512MB of RAM and 4GB of NAND flash memory for storage. The battery is 300mAh choice by Samsung (maybe a few considering the size of the display), which guarantee to that company about two days of use.

How many smartwatch Samsung latest generation of the operating system used is the owner Tizen, while there are sensor to scan the heart rate and IP67 certification for resistance to intrusion of dust and liquids.

Included will find some typical applications of the products of the family Gear, S Health and as the music player. Given the support of 3G and Wi-Fi, Gear S could be the first smartwatch completely autonomously on the market, rather than an extension of your smartphone. Samsung Gear S will be launched on the market in the early days of October, at a price not yet announced by the company.
