The Korean company officially announces the new smartwatch: round-based platform Tizen.
Samsung has officially announced the new smartwatch Gear S2 joining the circular appearance popularized by the Moto 360 and a rotatable ring vaguely reminiscent of the interaction made possible by the Crown in the Apple Digital Watch.
The new watch will be available in two different models Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic, the latter with a design more similar to that of traditional watches with a leather strap and a box of black color. Gear S2 will instead be characterized as a case of gray color with a gray strap or a silver case and strap white. From what has been learned the straps can be changed easily to customize the style of the watch.
Both models will be equipped with the circular display type Super AMOLED 1.2-inch with a resolution of 360×360 pixels and a density of 302 pixels per inch. A dual-core SoC mans smartwatch, along with 4 GB of storage and 512 MB of RAM. In terms of connectivity, plus WiFi 802.11b / g / n and NFC module, is also an option and-SIM to connect to 3G networks. The operational autonomy declared (the battery is 250 mAh or 300 mAh depending on whether or not you choose the 3G version) is 2-3 days per charge, which is done through a wireless charger.
Samsung has developed a customized user interface and based on Tizen platform to capitalize on the display around. Users can navigate between apps and menu system using a mechanism based on the rotatable ring and two physical buttons to return to the home screen and for moving to the previous screen.
The new Samsung Gear S2 will be equipped with a number of capabilities for monitoring physical activity, such as a heart-rate monitor and log system connected to a mechanism of notifications to motivate the user to achieve the objectives newspapers. Also of support for Nike Running.
And on the side of the app that the new device allows, at least initially, a little bitter taste in the mouth: the decision to use the operating system Tizen fact leaves Gear S2 outside the catalog app android wear and the clock will use applications integrated (calendar, email, messaging, news headlines) and the few third party application’s available Tizen ecosystems.
