Samsung UN65JS9500: LCD Curved SUHD state of the art
The new TV top the range 4K Curved of Samsung raises the bar perhaps forever regarding LED technology LCD TV panels. Nano Crystal, Quantum Color Expression and Peak Illuminator are just some of the technologies that allow JS9500 performance to reach my views to date.
Missing very little at the beginning of the commercialization of the new range of TV’s Korean giant Samsung that, first, in this 2015 will hit stores with their new TVs SUHD. From these weeks it will appear in stores and on the shelves of the malls, the first samples of the new range of TV Curved UltraHD that Samsung has shown a couple of months ago in preview at the CES in Las Vegas. In particular, the Asian manufacturer has come with this latest product line to be J and, for this reason the new TV will be signed with the prefix followed by the identification number of the JS model.
A few days ago, we had the opportunity to see a preview of one of the new models SUHD the range JS of Samsung. These include JS 9500, or the TV panel with smaller the higher-end products of the Korean manufacturer. In this case we were in front of an impressive curved display from 65″ to Ultra HD resolution which is the starting point of the series 9500 with a price of around $6,000. An important figure, but almost insignificant when compared to the more than 20,000 of version 88″ diagonal.
But what are the key features of this latest series of TVs? This is primarily televisions equipped with LED and LCD panels, in particular, according to Samsung, with this series of TV has reached the apex of the development of this technology in the field of TV. Televisions Series 9500 indeed offer all the latest technology that Samsung currently available.
From the curved display, through the direct LED backlight, 3D capabilities, Octa-Core processor, connector only owner-One Connect with boxes for external connections and up to the new Smart TV platform based on a proprietary operating systems Tizen. In short, with this series of devices the Korean giant has absolutely wanted to miss anything.
We start from what you see on the outside. The design is certainly very nice and even though the direct LED backlight technology does not allow to keep the thickness within record size, the widest point of the body the TV measuring between 5 and 7 cm thick, a dimension which contributes to a more robust picture of the structure.
Very thin, on the contrary, the frame, which measures only 1 cm. Bello and minimal also the pedestal, solid and made of metallic material. On the back of the pedestal are the cable holder to hide the power cables and the connection to One Connect sight. In the upper part of the frame are then a webcam retractable, useful to perform certain tasks with regard to the part of the Smart TV.
The chassis in the back is made of plastic material but offers a very clean design that, although the material is not so premium, allows to leave the back of TV to view without disfiguring. The only two connectors, one for power and one useful to connect the box One Connect are hidden from view and with all the tricks useful to hide as much as possible the cables. The panel in the back, in this case made of plastic material, will be aluminum, with a wavy design, in televisions of the lower series JS9000 and JS8500.
In all this, what matters most is talking about television but the quality of the display and the technologies that make it more or less powerful. In this case, we can definitely say that the Korean manufacturer has used in the creation of this panel all their knowledge, to bring to the table the best LED LCD technology is able to offer at this time.
Samsung UN65JS9500 has implemented its technology Nano Crystal, correspondent of the quantum dot, which allows the television to offer more accurate colors by adjusting size and wavelength of the particles in the different levels of nanocrystals. In this way, it is able to achieve coverage of more than 92% of the color space standard of the DCI, used as a reference for the projectors in the professional field.
It was then improved the structure dele individual cells that make up the panel to improve the transmission of light thus making the panel’s 37% brighter than the previous generation. The LEDs of which is composed of the backlight, also, are 20% more efficient, in favor of a better depth of black and contrast of a definitely very high. The panel is then to 10-bit and the process Quantum Colour Expression allows to better calibrate the colors in the different points of the screen.
The Samsung UN65JS9500 is also equipped with the technology Peak Illuminator which allows the TV to increase the brightness at certain points and thus obtain an even higher contrast bringing the maximum peak brightness 1000nit. Peak Illuminator technology analyzes images and uses the energy not used by the parties to brighten dark image areas of light.
Finally the new Samsung UN65JS9500, as well as all the new TV series of JS, offers the new platform developed by the same Samsung Smart and operating system-based Tizen. The specimen seen by us in action was probably not a final version, and then it will not be what you actually see on the market. Nevertheless the new interface, in its temporaries, seemed to us very fluid and quite intuitive.
Speaking instead of connectivity, the new Samsung UN65JS9500 offers, as mentioned above, only two connectors on the rear of the body. The first, positioned to the left of the attack of the pedestal, is dedicated to power, while the second, symmetrically positioned, is the proprietary connector One Connect that connects the TV to the Connect Box One.
But what is the One Connect Box? When we speak of One Connect Box we are referring to an external device to the TV, the size of a set-top box, equipped with all the useful connections to connect to our Samsung TV qualsisi source possible. In addition of course to a digital decoder integrated, we find a number of other connectors including a USB, 4 HDMI, a 3.5 mm jack, the attacks to the antenna, a LAN port, a component video, and of course the connector One Connect out.
One Connect is also the main component of the philosophy of Samsung about updating the TV. Besides all the connections, One Connect Box is itself the brain of the TV, in which we find all the useful technology to make it work better.
In this way, in case of addition of new codecs or software updates, but not only, more important, you will have to update the One Connect Box or buy the next model without having to change the TV itself; of course, all at a cost much lower.
Came to the conclusion that we cannot then leave you with a question. Samsung has done well to insist on an LED panel and leave again for the moment by the OLED technology much heralded by the competition? The impressions, noting the new Samsung UN65JS9500 in action, are certainly very good.
We can say with almost complete certainty that the technologies implemented by Samsung should be able to cancel, if not reverse in their favor, the differences with OLED technology products; especially in the area of contrast and vivid colors.

Certainly, $6,000 are not a figure that everyone is willing to spend, but for those who can afford it we believe this is a product from Samsung UN65JS9500.
