Seagate IronWolf 510, an M.2 NVMe SSD dedicated to NAS
IronWolf 510 is the new range of M.2 SSDs that specifically target the world of NAS. Seagate ensures continuous operation, a 5-year warranty and even a data recovery service in case of problems. All with the added benefit of high performance.
Seagate has announced IronWolf 510, an M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD dedicated to ” multi-user NAS environments “. With a DWPD (total writes per day) of 1, decidedly higher than consumer solutions, this solution is aimed at professionals and companies that need fast storage, but above all designed to work without interruptions.
” We are the first to provide an NVMe M.2 solution specially designed for NAS systems that not only exceed SATA performance metrics but also provide 3 times the strength of the competition. This meets the strength specifications required for a DWPD that our NAS partners expect from their customers, ” said Matt Rutledge, Senior Vice President of Seagate’s device division. ” Thanks to these high levels of resistance so high, our customers get a robust SSD for NAS systems intended for small businesses and creative professionals. ”
From a technical point of view, it is a single or double-sided M.2 2280 SSD depending on the capacity, compliant with the NVMe 1.3 specification and with a four-line PCIe 3.0 interface. We do not know what the controller is onboard this IronWolf 510, while the memory is of the 3D NAND TLC type.
Four models will arrive on the market with capacities of 240 GB, 480 GB, 960 GB, and 1.92 TB, with prices respectively equal to 114, 159, 319 and 519 dollars. In performance terms, the most capacious units reach 3.15 GB / s with sequential reads (128 KB at QD32) and 1 GB / s for sequential writes. Random performance stands at a maximum of 380,000 IOPS for reading and 29,000 IOPS for writing. Average consumption ranges between 1.8 watts in idle and 6 watts under load.
The average time between failures (MTBF) is 1.8 million hours while depending on the model the TBW (Terabyte Written) parameter ranges from 435 to 3500. The warranty on these IronWolf 510 is equal to 5 years, with 2 years of ” Rescue Data Recovery Services ” included.
