Sony announces the new Cyber-shot RX100 VI Digital Camera
Sony announces the sixth generation of one of its most successful compact cameras. For the first time in the RX100 series, we find a high-factor zoom and autofocus technology with subject tracking.
Sony today announced the new model of compact camera Cyber-shot RX100 VI (for the most fussy, the exact model code is DSC-RX100M6) which represents the first among the RX100 models to integrate a lens with high zoom factor.
We are in the presence of the ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T * 24-200 f/2.8 – f/4.5 optics that is integrated into a machine body of compact size and weight. The optic sees the overall use of ten aspherical elements, two of which with Extra-low Dispersion glass, while for another four, it is more precisely advanced aspherical lenses.
Inside we find the CMOS Exmor RS image sensor of the ” stacked ” type with dimensions of 1 inch and a resolution of 20.1 megapixels, which is flanked by the BIONZ X image processing processor and an LSI acquisition chip that allows to increase both the image processing speed and its quality, for the best results in any shooting situation.
The autofocus system provides 315 phase detection points, with a focusing speed of 0.03 seconds. For this camera, the burst reaches up to 24 frames per second at full resolution with continuous AF / AE tracking. There is also the possibility to shoot videos in 4K resolution without pixel binning and HDR compatibility thanks to the HLG image profile.
The video compartment is also completed by the S-Log3 / S-Gamut3 functions, Full HD 120p mode, Picture Profile and proxy recording. The RX100 VI can shoot in super slow motion at 240 fps, 480 fps or 960 fps.
For the first time in the RX100 series of cameras, the new RX100 VI also includes Sony’s advanced high-density tracking AF technology, which focuses AF points around the subject to improve focus accuracy and tracking. Still with regard to focusing operations, we point out the presence of the Eye AF technology, for which twice the performance of the current RX100 model is declared.
The camera is also equipped with a touch screen, adjustable, with touch focus functionality and with the ability to control the focus even with the touchpad for those who want to set the focus manually.
On the front of the shutter is signaled the presence of a new anti-distortion mechanism at high speed (maximum speed up to 1/32,000 of a second) that reduces the ” rolling shutter ” effect typical of moving subjects and is able to take in completely silent mode, even in high speed continuous shooting mode, when using the electronic shutter. However, it is also possible to take a mechanical shutter if desired.
The new Sony RX100 VI camera available now, at a price of $1,198.
