Sony has decided to extend the zoom range to the new version of the machine, even bringing his Sony RX10 III to cover with its 25x zoom the 24-600mm equivalent focal range, beating off competition in terms of brightness thanks to the opening f/2.4-4.
Competition in the premium bridge superzoom sector has returned to be very fierce, after a few years in which the sector had experienced a certain alienation from the audience. The arrival of the sensors 1 inch gave new life to the industry managing to combine well the needs of quality and dimensions required by buyers. Sony RX10 is the camera with which the Japanese manufacturer has leaned on this segment.
Sony’s approach had been not to push too hard on the optics plate data, especially towards tele (24-200mm equivalent focal), but given the competitive responses Sony also decided to extend the zoom range in the new version of the machine: Sony RX10 III.
With Panasonic and Canon, respectively, 400 and 600mm maximum equivalent focal, Sony decided to match the house red and white also bringing its RX10 III to cover with its 25x zoom the 24-600mm equivalent focal range.
Sony has decided to go a step further in terms of brightness, making the perspective dish that offers the minimum focal length and aperture of f/2.4 and the maximum focal remains at a very interesting value of f/4. Sony has achieved his goal using eight ED glass elements, including one Super ED glass element and two aspherical lens ED.
The minimum focusing distance of 72 cm at maximum telephoto allows a magnification factor 0.49x in photographic macro and, of course, given the nature of superzoom. The machine is equipped with Optical SteadyShot stabilizer.
The CMOS sensor type ” stacked ” by 1.0″ and 20.1 megapixels allows you to work in a range of ISO 100-12800, expandable in expansion mode up to ISO 64-25600, while the barrage stood at 14 frames per second, but dropped to fifth with autofocus active pursuit.

Sony has also worked on the ergonomics front, focusing on three dials easy to use for the focus, zoom and aperture, can be managed directly from the lens side, where there is also a button that lets you set the distance of focus with a simple pressure of the finger and which can also serve as a custom button.
The Sony RX10 III camera offers an OLED viewfinder 2.36 million dots and a swivel LCD display 3. ” There are also external microphone input and headphone output of 3.5 mm jack, Wi-Fi connectivity with NFC for remote control via smartphone, HDMI output uncompressed and pop-up flash on the cover of the viewfinder.
The camera weighs just over one kilogram (1051 grams) and has a size of 133x94x127 mm. This model replaces the Mark II currently in range, but will complement it: the latter is likely to see a short price repositioning, while the new Sony RX10 III should have to launch around the same list price as the old model, which it was proposed at $1,499.
