Surface Hub 2S: The modular integrated system

The Microsoft Surface family of products is made up of different solutions, suitable for various usage profiles. From the small Surface Go to the classic Surface Pro, passing through Surface Laptop and Surface Book, we actually find all types of notebook and 2-in-1 solutions that you can imagine.

Surface Studio is a 2-in-1 that points everything on a touch screen, mounted on a tilting structure that easily transforms it into a huge digital sheet with which to interact using touch and pen. Complete the Surface Hub range, the one we can define a real multimedia blackboard to be used in the workplace.

Surface Hub 2S

Microsoft has announced Surface Hub 2S, the new family proposal focused on a touch screen available in 50.5 inch or 85-inch version. Particular the resolution, equal to 3,840×2,560 pixels: the horizontal one is the same as the 4K panels while the vertical one is higher, so as to bring to a ratio between the sides of 3: 2 that is the standard of Surface products on the market.

The peculiarity of Surface Hub 2S is to integrate the processing logic into a sort of cartridge, which can be replaced with a more powerful one in the future. In the current implementation, it integrates a 128GB SSD, 8GB of system memory and an eighth-generation Intel Core i5 processor: mainstream technical specifications, we could define them, sufficient to guarantee a fluid system behavior for the particular areas of productivity within the companies for which it was designed.

In the course of the year, Microsoft will also present Surface Hub 2 Display, a Surface Hub 2S solution without the computational part: nothing else than a large-size touch screen with high resolution to be used in production environments in the company in combination with own PC.

Microsoft offers a battery as an accessory, which allows you to use Surface Hub 2S even away from the power outlet: it has a battery life of up to 2 hours and costs $1,400. For the 50.5-inch diagonal version Microsoft requires $8,999 list price; for the 85-inch price has not yet been announced, as it will be put on sale by 2020. Surface Hub 2S will be marketed from June, with the opening of reservations from 1 May.
