Surface Pro 4: the new Microsoft tablet hybrid to debut. At the presentation of new products Microsoft Hardware debuts the fourth generation of Surface Pro, the product that was very successful with the third edition introduced last year.
In May 2014, then a little less than one year and a half ago, Microsoft introduced with an event streaming the third generation of its platform Surface Pro. Unlike the two previous models, Surface Pro 3 has brought several innovations in terms of size, functionality and hardware configuration out to be among the preferable products in the category of the 2-in-1.
And now the turn of the fourth generation of Surface Pro, product that takes the name of Surface Pro 4. Display 12.3-inch diagonal, slightly larger than that of Surface Pro 3 but keeping the outer dimensions unchanged: the frame it was reduced as overall thickness. Microsoft says this display for a density of 267 PPI for more than 5 million pixels total present.
Do not change the outer dimensions but slightly reduces the overall thickness, which drops to 8.4 millimeters. The hardware includes Intel Core processors of the sixth generation of the family Skylake, an allocation of system memory that comes to 16 Gbytes as maximum and a memory storage via SSD up to 1 terabyte.
Surface Pro 4 sees the debut of a new pen, characterized by the ability to manage up to 1,024 different levels of pressure and has a battery life of one year. It also changes the position of the pen, which now can be magnetically attached to the chassis so as to carry it along with the tablet. And this a long-awaited feature that enhances the use of the pen supplied with Surface Pro 4 than was the case with previous generations of the family.
The pen will be given in 5 different colors, in addition to the possibility of changing the tip with different patterns depending on the type of use that is made by the user.
Microsoft says that Surface Pro 4 has a top speed of up to 30% compared with Surface Pro 3; in comparison with Apple’s MacBook Air, the gap increases to 50%. It clear that this result is reached thanks to both the new Intel family Skylake, able to bring benefit to both the CPU as a component for the GPU, we believe is due to SSD faster.
Microsoft has developed a new cover with keyboard, different from the previous of Surface Pro 3 in the space between the keys and in their movement but also compatible with Surface Pro 3; between the characteristics of this product also we signal the integration of a device for fingerprint recognition.
Same compatibility applies to Surface Dock, a box that connects Surface Pro 3 or Surface Pro 4 to two displays each with 4K resolution, take advantage of 4 USB 3.0 ports and use an Ethernet connection. A perfect match for those who need a product like Surface Pro, but often found to use this tablet sitting at a desk and benefiting from a screen diagonal high.
