In a market where PCI Express 4.0 has not yet found widespread use, the group that deals with the PCI Express standard are running fast to ratify PCI Express 6.0 by 2021. The new specification has already reached version 0.5.

The new PCI Express 6.0 specifications are arriving in 2021, currently ready for revision 0.3: the final goal is the doubling of bandwidth without losing compatibility with peripherals already on the market.

The new PCI Express specifications of the future will be standardized for 2021, but its adoption is not expected before at least another two years. In exchange values of bandwidth 8 times higher than the current ones.

Together with the new-generation Ryzen 3000 processors, AMD will introduce the X570 chipset to the market, a model that will implement PCI Express 4.0 controllers for the first time.

It will be available in two sizes, 512 GB and 1 TB, and based on Toshiba BiCS3 TLC NAND memories managed by a Phison PS5012-E12 NVMe 1.3 controller: the larger 1 TB version offers read speeds up to 3,480 MB/s and write up at 3,080 MB/s.
