The first applications ” balance ” that make use of 3D Touch have been rejected by Apple. This is the case of Gravity and Plum-O-Meter app that can give a more or less reliable objects resting on the screen of the iPhone.
During the IFA in Berlin he announced Huawei Ascend Mate S and a limited version with a display that can detect the pressing force of interaction. A 3D Touch, in other words, the same that Apple would show on his iPhone 6S few days later. The Chinese showed the feature by measuring the weight of an orange with the device, a feature that could also have the new iPhone but that did not have in the short term, at least not officially.
The original app can only give the value of the bending of the display as a percentage of the maximum detectable by the system, so it is not much help to measure, for example, the weight of the ingredients of a recipe. For any culinary needs, it comes to the rescue evolution of Plum-O-Meter as shown Stoo Sep, which has expanded the original code of the software calibrating based on its specific needs (using a tomato and a traditional balance).
In the video posted on YouTube, however, they vary slightly from the measured values based on the position of the object weighed on the display of your smartphone. This is an application that still will not see on the App Store, at least not in the short term: on the one hand, these experiments can be performed with devices modified with the jailbreak, other App Store does not accept software based primarily on 3D Touch.
The function is available on a number of devices too limited and specific app to make it incompatible to exploit all smartphones earlier. Upon choosing Apple seems more sensible that also for another reason: despite 3D Touch is capable of measuring up to about 385 grams, many users may abuse the feature causing permanent damage to the device and its display, not intended course to weigh objects.
