Canonical has released a new release of Ubuntu, which is one of the most famous Linux distributions for the consumer market. Ubuntu 18.10 Cosmic Cuttlefish, this is its full name, is now available for download: it can be downloaded via the official website, as usual also via .torrent, and on this page, you will find all the versions currently available. This new version will be supported for only nine months from its official debut, so until July 2019, so for those who want to use a longer version we suggest you stay on the last LTS: Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Long-Term Support). Term Support).
We emphasize, that Ubuntu 18.10 is not a minor update: it introduces a new theme, Yaru, and a new icon package, Suru, and represents the first graphic distortion from Ubuntu 10.10.
In addition to the new color scheme, we have some additional details: the new release is based on GNOME 3.30, released at the beginning of September, which should deliver better performance for the interface, improved screen sharing than ever before, automatic Flatpak updates, and more. The Linux kernel used on Ubuntu 18.10 is 4.18, released last August, and includes the HID Driver for the Steam Controller.
The new kernel also has additional specific fixes for Spectre variants 1 and 2. At the time of writing, you can also download Lubuntu in version 18.10, while Xubuntu is not available yet. It could be in the next few hours.
