Window Defender: Free and secure security solution according to AV-Test
The security solution integrated by Microsoft with Windows 10 stands out in the tests conducted by AV-Test, reaching the maximum score in all analysis categories.
Windows Defender is the antivirus solution that Microsoft integrates for free in its Windows 10 operating systems, to offer a level of protection from viruses and external security attacks that is always present regardless of what is installed in your system.
We often tend to believe that paid commercial solutions can be more effective in protecting your system than bundled free offers, but this is not always the case. The most-recent results conducted by AV-Test reward Windows Defender as an excellent solution, able to collect the maximum score in tests of protection, performance and usability.
The reference period in which the test was performed is the one comprising the months of May and June 2019. Windows Defender version 4.18 has obtained the maximum score, on a par with the F-Secure SAFE 17, Kaspersky Internet Security 19 and Norton Security 22.17. AV-Test provides a history of tests performed, on a bi-monthly basis, with the different antivirus solutions: on the whole there are about twenty security packages. Already in previous surveys, Windows Defender performed well, managing to reach the maximum score in almost all tests.
