Windows: Here are all the Microsoft programs that will be eliminated in 2020
Microsoft plans to remove some software or at least their support for it. They are widely used by users who will no longer receive updates. Here are what they are.
The new year has started, and with it also the news that tech companies will bring to the market. CES 2020 is now in full swing, and you can follow all the news directly from this page.
Certainly, 2020 is not only Las Vegas, but rather, the companies seem willing to work to carry out important battles towards security, improving the protection of their users as much as possible. This seems to be the leitmotif that led Microsoft to decide to stop the updates of some important programs that will no longer be supported by the company in 2020.
Microsoft and Windows: which programs are no longer supported?
With 2020, the support for Windows 7 goes first. A fact that will lead users to have to change their habits and to have to update their PC or notebooks to the new Windows 10. Who will not be able to do so due to the presence of too many components obsolete will be forced to buy new ones, thus allowing Windows 10 to run and be installed?
Windows 7 will be the first victim, but Microsoft intends to leave another software at home that will certainly not please some users.
We speak, for example, of the fact that from on January 14, 2020, some operating systems but also house software will no longer be updated. Their support from Microsoft will end, and anyone who still has them on PC will be able to continue to use them, but as they will be on that date because the Redmond company will no longer update them, especially on the security side. Which products will no longer be supported?
- Windows 7
- Windows 7 Pro
- Windows Server 2008
- Windows Server 2008 R2
- Exchange Server
That’s not all because the company plans to make a second major stop on its programs or some versions of operating systems. In this case, from the next 13 October 2020, there will be a second blocking session that will be put into practice by Redmond. As of this second date, there will no longer be supported for:
- Office 2010
- SharePoint Server 2010
- Project Server 2010
As stated on the support page, Microsoft had committed to providing 10 years of technical support for Windows 7 when it was released on October 22, 2009. This 10-year period is now over, and the company has stopped supporting Windows 7. So that we can focus on supporting the latest technologies and new experiences. Microsoft’s advice is to switch to Windows 10 to avoid that, in case of need, assistance or support is no longer available.
What will happen if you continue to use Windows 7 or something else?
Anyone who continues to use Windows 7 after the end of the support will not terminate the functioning of the PC, but as said, this will be more vulnerable to security risks and viruses and will no longer receive software updates from Microsoft, including updates to the safety.
