We return with the memory autumn 2012: Microsoft is preparing to introduce Windows Phone 8, a new version of its operating system for smartphones that would take, instead of the Windows Phone 7. Owners of terminals based on the latter found themselves displaced because Microsoft did not make those products updated with the new OS, stopping to update referred to as Windows Phone 7 and 8.
This had opened up some controversy and prompted Microsoft to check more carefully later updates of your operating system, leading to a policy of supporting up to 36 months with updates to their mobile devices.
It is now approaching the time of the debut of Windows Phone 8.1, expected to launch in the spring, though there is no official indication from Microsoft. Greg Sullivan, public relations director for Windows Phone at Microsoft, confirmed in an interview with Computerworld has confirmed that Windows 8 smartphones currently on the market will be fully compatible with the new OS and can therefore be updated.
And course, postponed to the various manufacturers of Windows Phone 8 Smartphone on the market to verify the compatibility of the new OS and the release of software to owners of the various terminals. Nokia has already indicated in its time as the models Lumia 1020 and Lumia 520 will be upgradeable to the new OS and there are reasons to believe that the same cannot apply to the other terminals of Lumia family.
Windows Phone is currently the third smartphone operating system in terms of diffusion, well distanced from Android and iOS in 2013 but able to overcome the BlackBerry. Microsoft continues to invest in the development of this platform, strong predictions that the damage in constant growth in market share over the next few years, although not to the point to get to undermine the position held by Apple.
