The new Xiaomi Mi TV 3Sare proposed on the market with a price very interesting list. Unfortunately at the time, the sale is expected only in the Chinese market.
Xiaomi announced the third refresh of its line-up of TVs. Mi TV 3S family currently consists of two models: the highest in the range is a 4K 65-inch curved panel (the first for Xiaomi) developed by Samsung, while the second is a more modest 43-inch Full HD panel LG and AU Optronics. We have no way to verify the quality of the integrated panels, the two new models is certainly characterized by an indisputably advantageous price list.
The 65-inch curved variant boasts interesting technical features: supports a maximum resolution of 3,840×2,160 pixels in a panel with curvature 4000R with 176° viewing angles. On the color front, we are dealing with a device gamut of 78% of the NTSC standard, dynamic response time of 8ms, a contrast ratio of 4000: 1. The TV uses the Android operating system for smart management of content.
Precisely for this hardware that, we find in the TV frame it is not too different from that of the typical mobile device: the TV uses a Mstar 6A928 processor with four core Cortex-A17 to 1.4GHz, supported by 2GB of DDR3 RAM, memory of 8GB eMMC and a GPU ARM Mali-760 MP4. The TV has a wide compatibility in terms of connections, both wired and wirelessly, such as Wi-Fi on 802.11ac and Bluetooth 4.1 LE.
As for wired connections are 3 HDMI 2.0, VGA, AV, analog, two USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0. There is the Ethernet port for connecting to a LAN. The top model supports H.265 at 60fps with codec compressed files even at 4K resolution, while up to a maximum of Full HD at 30fps with regard to files compressed with H.263 codec. It also offers support for MPEG 1/2/4 at 30fps, VP8 in Full HD at 30fps, REAL 7/8/9 and MJPEG video at 1080p to 1080p. On the audio front there is a separate bar with four 2.5-inch woofers and two tweeters dome.
The company also announced a model with technical features less frequent: it is based on a 43-inch Full HD panel from LG / AUO production with viewing angles of 176 ° and time dynamic response 8ms. It too is based on the Android operating system, but the hardware platform is less powerful than the older brother: the SoC is a Mstar 6A908 CPU Cortex-A9 quad-core ARM Mali 450MP4 1,45GHz and GPU, with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage.
On the connectivity, we find support for Wi-Fi 802.11n dual-band and Bluetooth 4.0 LE with respect to wireless connections, while for wired ones, we mention the presence of 3 HDMI 1.4, VGA, AV, USB 2.0 port and a USB 3.0 port.
There is the Ethernet port to connect the TV to a LAN. The entry-level model in the new family supports H.265 video at 1080p and 60fps, H.263 1080p at 30fps, 30fps MPEG 1/2/4, VP8 in Full HD at 30fps, REAL 7/8/9 to 1080p MJPEG to 1080p.
It’s huge the price difference between the two models: the version 4K 65″ curve is proposed at 9,000 yuan, while the flat version 43″ has a list of 1,800 yuan.
It is in both cases the prices very interesting, although at least at the time of writing the company does not provide its sale in markets other than China. At least not officially.
