Xiaomi works on 4 smartphones with a 108 MP sensor

Xiaomi and Samsung have partnered to bring a 108 MP sensor to a smartphone and it is the Chinese house that is working to support that sensor.

So far, we have seen smartphones with ever larger sensors and now the standard for most phones is around a 48 MP sensor to be able to take pictures with more detail. Redmi with its new Redmi Note 8 Pro has come to use a 64 MP sensor, but Xiaomi is not satisfied and aims to exceed 100 MP.

The Chinese company is working on 4 new smartphones with the following code names: ” tucana “, ” draco “, ” umi ” and ” cmi “. These devices will probably be the first to mount a 108 MP photo sensor; it is a Samsung home sensor: Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX designed in collaboration between the two companies.

The Korean company says that the sensor is able to absorb a lot of light even in poor lighting conditions compared to the sensors now on the market thanks to Tetracell technology. The new sensor from Samsung will produce brighter images from 27 MP.

Xiaomi is also adapting the MIUI Mi Gallery, adding support for viewing 108MP photos at full resolution, placing the application first on the devices mentioned above.

Although there is no official news from Xiaomi or Samsung on the upcoming devices of the Chinese company, it is possible that by the end of the year we will see the debut of one of these products, which will adopt the 108 MP sensor.
