Yamaha has just launched its latest models of e-bikes on the boundless US market, Gogoro instead is increasingly successful with its scooters counting in Taiwan alone about 750 battery exchange stations: the two companies have announced this partnership to give life to a new series of electric scooters with replaceable battery, the result of the strengths of both companies.
” This collaboration with Gogoro in the Taiwanese market will not only increase our customers’ mobility options, but we believe that sharing a state-of-the-art battery replacement system will allow us to embrace the challenge of creating a new mobility services market ” Takuya Kinoshita, Chief Engineer of Motorcycle Business Operations at Yamaha Motor Company.
Customers have greatly appreciated the philosophy of Gogoro, which practically eliminates the charging time and reduces the costs associated with owning the battery pack: you simply get in on a station, remove the exhausted battery from the scooter and pick it up and insert it a prompt and loaded; in the last three years, Gogoro has executed over 17 million battery exchanges at their stations.
” We are honored to partner with Yamaha to take a major step towards our goal, ” said Gogoro founder and CEO Horace Luke.
In comparison, Gogoro is a rather young company, which enters the Taiwanese market in 2015, Yamaha has been present in Taiwan since 1966, two opposing worlds and realities that together have the opportunity to do great things.
