Yuneec challenges DJI with its new Mantis Q, a foldable travel Drone
The travel drone with voice control ‘: both to take off, land, take photos or make videos, the small quadricopter reacts to voice commands, also offering the recognition of faces for selfies and video-selfie. The drone can also be controlled via smartphone or with the supplied controller, with a maximum distance of up to 800 meters, with live streaming of the images taken.
The pocket-sized drones are one of the objects of desire of the moment. If the DJI proposals are among the best known to the general public, other giants of the sector do not fail to play their cards in this segment. Also Yuneec has its own proposal and is called Mantis Q.
It is called ” The travel drone with the voice command “: either to take off, land, take pictures or make videos, the small quadcopter responds to voice commands, also offering face recognition for selfie and video-selfie.
The drone can also be controlled via smartphone or with the supplied controller, with a maximum distance of up to 800 meters, with live streaming of the images taken.
It offers a very interesting flight range of 33 minutes, and a maximum flight speed in sports mode of 72 km/h. Mantis has automatic flight modes such as Journey or Point of Interest. In the first mode Mantis Q follows a straight course upwards and automatically comes back, making one of the most classic drone shots.
With the POI (Point of Interest) mode even the less-experienced users have at their disposal the other great classic of aerial photography: you can select an object, and Mantis Q will fly around it automatically.
For a stable flight, the drone integrates GPS and IPS ultrasonic sensors, being able to fly both indoors and outdoors. The drone software integrates the No-Fly zones (with no flight restrictions) and prevents less-experienced users from flying in protected areas, such as those around international airports.
When folded, Mantis Q measures 168x96x58 mm and weighs less than 500 grams. Equipped with a 13 megapixel camera, Mantis Q takes pictures with a resolution of 4,800 × 2,700 pixels (in 16: 9 format) or 4160×3120 pixels (in full 4: 3 format) in JPEG format, but also offers support for the DNG RAW format. From a video point of view, it can record in 4K or Full HD, making available in this last format also the digital image stabilization on three axes.
Yunnec has chosen only digital stabilization to have less mechanical components (more subject to breakage) on board the drone. The camcorder can be tilted up to 20 degrees upward and 90 degrees downward with the remote control. The sales package includes a MicroSD to be installed in the drone for storing images and movies.
