Asus announces two new high-end smartphones expected on the market in the coming months. ZenFone 2 is built on the experience gained with the first series ZenFone while ZenFone Zoom uses a 3x optical zoom.
Time to announce new smartphones from Asus, a company that in the days before the CES 2015 in Las Vegas had hinted as if they were just these products at the center of their communication waiting for these first days of the year.
The range of smartphones ZenFone then expands with ZenFone 2 model features a 5.5-inch diagonal display Full HD IPS that Asus has managed to enter the front ensuring that it covers 72% of the total area. The result is to have frames around the display is very thin, for greater elegance of the ensemble and to equal a containment in the overall display.
The rear part is characterized by a curvature of the surface; This has allowed us to limit the thickness to the sides in just 3.9 mm. At the center of the back side is the 13 MP camera with focal aperture of f/2.0 and Asus pixelmaster technology that ensures a higher yield of shots taken in conditions of bad light. There’s also a rear flash tone, with two different LED color temperature that allow you to make more natural shots especially with reference to skin color.
The heart of this smartphone the Intel Atom Z3580, featuring quad-core architecture with a clock frequency of 2.3 GHz and combined with dual channel memory controller for a total of 4 Gbytes of system memory: it is the first smartphone with this amount of memory.
The battery has capacity 3,000 mAh and sees the use of technology Fast-charging, by which the capacity of 60% is reached after only 39 minutes of charging. We do not know if this is ensured by the use of a special charger supplied, or if it’s worth with the connection of the smartphone through a traditional USB cable and a power supply from the wall.
ZenUI has been updated to coincide with the debut of ZenFone 2, introducing various improvements ranging from greater room for intervention in the customization of the functions available until the adoption of some features related to security.
There are also a number of specific software features for the rear camera, thanks to which ensure the achievement of the best shots in difficult conditions in addition to editing post shooting image made automatically from your smartphone at the request of the user.
To complete the technical characteristics of this model support LTE Cat 4 and the possibility of managing simultaneously two SIM. We do not know at present whether this feature will be implemented in versions also expected on the market in the market.

All this while maintaining a maximum thickness of 11.95 mm, content in view of the complexity in the mechanical construction of an optical rear with 10 lenses in-house.
The integration of an optical zoom has implications in terms of the maximum focal aperture, as always happens with the rest of the optics of this kind with respect to fixed: so here’s an opening that goes from a minimum of f/2.7 up to f/4.8.
The rear camera is 13MP, while the front-facing 5 MP fixed lens f/2.0 The specifications provide a 5.5-inch display type Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels), with IPS technology and Corning Gorilla Glass 3; local storage reaches 128 Gbytes while no data is provided by reference to the SoC and system memory, but we believe that these are the same components used for ZenFone 2.
The impressive size allowed to integrate in this model a battery of 3,000 mAh, as capacity aligned to those of other smartphone with 5.5-inch display available on the market at the time.
